The Sinking Moon School of Kung Fu charges a monthly membership fee to all students. In addition, all new students are charged a one-time startup fee that covers costs of equipment necessary for the student to begin training at the Sinking Moon School of Kung Fu.
You will find that our membership fees and startup costs are very competitive with other martial arts schools in the Twin Cities. While it's important to be competitive, our rates are based on the costs we pay for goods and services. None of our instructors receive a salary from the Sinking Moon Scbool of Kung Fu. All of the income generated from equipment sales and membership dues is reinvested into the organization for the benefit of the members.
Members of the Sinking Moon School of Kung Fu are required to pay a monthly recurring membership fee. This fee is due on the first of every month and is paid in advance for classes during that month (e.g the fees charged on the first of January are for January's classes).

Every new student is required to purchase one of our startup packages. This is a one-time fee incurred when students begin training at the Sinking Moon School of Kung Fu. If a student suspends their training for whatever reason, and then later begins again, the startup fee will not be re-assessed.
The purpose of this is to provide the student with the necessary equipment to begin training at the Sinking Moon School of Kung Fu. There is a significant discount offered on the equipment in both packages versus if the student were to purchase these items separately.
Our standard startup package, the Snake package includes everything a student absolutely needs to begin training at the Sinking Moon School of Kung Fu. This package is designed to be cost-effective, while at the same time providing the student with his/her necessary training materials.
Our more comprehensive startup package, designed for those who are confident they will be training at the Sinking Moon School of Kung Fu for at least a year. The Phoenix package includes everything in the Snake package, but it also includes a full set of excellent quality sparring gear. The Ringstar sparring shoes are especially useful, as they are commonly worn during all parts of class, not just sparring. These shoes give excellent traction while practicing forms or drills on the mats, and provide an unprecedented level of protection and padding while in the sparring ring.
While the Phoenix package is a bit more expensive, it is well worth the added cost, since most students end up purchasing all of the components included over the course of their first year of training anyway. This enables students to begin using their equipment immediately, and gives a substantial discount over buying the items piece-by-piece.
Who doesn't like a discount? We offer some discounts on our monthly membership dues.
Discounts are not stackable, meaning that each student can only apply up to one discount, but we will give you the best discount among all of the discounts for which you qualify. Discounts are applied per student, not per bill, meaning that if you're paying for two students on the same bill, each of these students can qualify for up to one discount.

Note that these discounts only apply to recurring membership fees and not to the startup costs.
This discount provides a discount over the standard monthly subscription rate if the student elects to subscribe for payments every 3-months, instead of every month.
This discount provides an even more substantial discount than the quarterly if the student elects to subscribe for payments every 6-months, instead of every month or every quarter.
This discount provides the most cost-effective rate of all of our subscription prices. Students electing this discount pricing are charged once every 12-months, making accounting easy for both the student and the staff of the Sinking Moon School of Kung Fu.
